I worked as an educational specialist for the University of Hawaii system for 2 years and recently quit to work for the local public school instead. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy it there, it was wonderful, it’s just that I had other obligations in my life that needed to be taken care of.

Universities: UH-Hilo, UH-Manoa, UH-West-Oahu

Other Universities in Hawaii
Chaminade University

Chaminade University is named after its' founder, Father William Joseph Chaminade. He was a French, Catholic priest, hence it is a Catholic based university.
It is a beautifully sloped campus, if you like walking up steps all day, this is a great campus to keep in shape and get your buns of steel. The campus is set on a hillside in the city of Kaimuki, overlooking the beauitful city of Honolulu and only 2 miles from Waikiki beach.
The campus is also home to an all boys school called St. Louis High School.
Transportation is not a problem since there are eateries and stores along the main road. The bus stops a few steps from the campus entry and you are walking distance to McDonalds and a shopping plaza where you can buy groceries, get medications and all your personal needs. Everything is conveniently located. Not to mention a few blocks east will get you to Kahala Mall where you can find a side job or hang out with your friends.
Classes are small at Chaminade, with a student-to-faculty ratio of about 17:1. No class is larger than 45. Everybody gets to know everybody on campus. In a larger institution, with larger classes, the student could easily "get lost" in the system.
Chaminade boasts a wonderful Forensic Science program, one of the best in the world, and the only campus in Hawaii who can grant a Bachelors degree in Interior Design.
Brigham Young University-Hawaii

BYU-Hawaii is a four-year undergraduate institution that is a sister campus to the larger campus BYU-Provo. It is a private, Latter-Day Saint university (Mormon,LDS) located on the north shore of Oahu. It is another small school of only about 2400 students from 70 countries arond the world.
The University was founded in 1955 by, David O. McKay, ninth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1955, he stood looking upon an isolated field and envisioned the future home of BYU. McKay declared: "From this school...will go men and women whose influence will be felt for good..."
A motto that rings true till today as men and women from across the world gather to become educated and like minded individuals in the cause of truth, righteousness, peace, and happiness.
BYU-Hawaii invites all to learn more about BYU-Hawaii and to experience their special spirit of aloha. BYU-Hawaii will change your life forever. (I believe them!)
Hawaii Pacific University

Hawai'i Pacific University is an independent, not-for-profit, nonsectarian, career-oriented post secondary institution founded in 1965.
It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the National League for Nursing. .
Locations:
HPU gives students the best of both worlds, with two locations, one located in urban downtown Honolulu and a residential campus locatred in the foothills of the majestic Ko'olau mountains.
HPU also offer courses in the newest, fastest growing city on Oahu, the city of Kapolei and seven outreach campuses on military bases across O'ahu.
Personally, I would opt to choose the campus located on the windward side of Oahu in the foothills of the Ko'olau mountains. Very lush and green.

Academic Degrees
HPU has a diverse student body, with students from over 100 countries around the world. They offer 50 concentrations for undergraduate degrees, and 11 graduate degree programs.
Students come from over 100 countries around the world to study at HPU, making it one of the most diverse campuses in the world.
Classes are offered Year Round: Fall, Spring, Winter and several Summer sessions.
Other Universities and Colleges
The other colleges located on the island of Oahu are: University of Phoenix (2 campus locations on the Windward side and Downtown Honolulu), Heald Business College, Remington College, Paul Brown Institute of Beauty and Wellness, Hawaii Business College, Travel Institute of the Pacific.
And possibly more. At this time these are the ones that are flowing off the top of my head.
