Maui Hawaii is also known as the Valley Isle. With it's lush green mountains in close proximity to beautiful white sand beaches and clear blue water.
Maui Hawaii Demographics
When you arrive on Maui you will probably land at the Kahului Airport. Maui's main airport. To get to Maui you may take a direct flight from the mainland or get a connecting flight from the Honolulu International Airport and then transfer to a commuter plane from Honolulu to Kahului Airport.
To save yourself time from hanging out at airports for hours without end and worrying about lost baggage I recommend you to get a direct flight to Kahului, Maui Hawaii.
There is also an airport out in Kapalua West Maui, which will save you about a 25 mile drive from Kahului to Lahaina. Lahaina is a town that you must visit. I love that part of the island. You can catch a ferry from Lahaina harbor to visit the islands of Molokini, Lanai, and Molokai. Much of the hotels are out in Lahaina and so are the more beautiful south beaches. Be sure to wear your swim gear and take towels so that you can stop along side the road on your way to Lahaina to take a dip in the ocean.
Just as in Honolulu, be sure to arrange your travel from Kahului Airport to Lahaina before 2pm. That is the time most people are returning home from work. Travelling at night after 7pm may not be so much of a problem either. But please do be careful, it's a two lane road and when there are accidents traffic can be backed up for miles and hours waiting in traffic is outrageous.
The last time we went to Lahaina there was an accident, someone was passing on the shoulder lane, never do that, and a car was coming in the opposite direction, everyone was probably rushing to and fro Lahaina and a little boy died in that accident.
So, be patient when you come here. Hawaii is not like the mainland where speed limits can top 110 miles an hour.
