Get Affordable Deals

So, you've found some great deals on the web for a few different hotels in hawaii and you don't know which to choose. The price ranges between $69 to $129 dollars a night and you're not sure which one will give you the best bang for your buck.

With the economy, and the rate things are going now, it's hard to find a great deal. Gasoline topping $3.99 to $4.59 a gallon on some islands. Can you believe that they sell milk on Molokai for $7.99 a gallon. The last thing you need is an expensive vacation.

Recently, I stayed at 3 hotels on Oahu, one on the Big Island in Kona and 3 on Maui. I will give my honest reviews on these hotels and hope to get into more hotels to give you a better idea of what you are in for.

So don't forget to keep coming back throughout the months to come as I travel the islands.

Cheap Hotels in Hawaii

Maile Sky Court Hotel

The good news is that there are some bargains out there the bad news is that you will have to sacrifice the quality of customer service and living space for the $79-$89 dollar deals. Imagine, after taxes you will spend $100 dollars a night on these holes in the wall. I can remember when ugly places like these cost only $49 dollars a night. Those days are long gone.

The picture above is the Maile Sky Court Hotel. For myself, I felt clostraphobic, the price for parking in the hotel is $15 a night and such a tight space to park in. Even the hallways of the hotel was small. I didn't like it at all. But, if you only need a place to sleep and you are on a budget I guess it's alright. I checked out the following morning and wanted to stay at the locals favorite spot called the Pagoda Hotel & Terrace.

Pagoda Hotel & Restaurant

Locals tend to enjoy staying at the Pagoda Hotel, why? I'm not to sure...but I guess it's been a family favorite for years. The Pagoda Hotel is made up of two parts the Hotel and the Terrace.

The area has become even more popular since the recent opening of Walmart, ROSS's and Sam's club it's the perfect place to shop till you drop. With near by eateries such as LikeLike Drive Inn, and the ever so famous ALA MOANA CENTER food court. Ala Moana is the largest out door mall in the world, and all just a block away from the hotel.

The cost of staying at the Pagoda Hotel is $98/night for online booking and $135/night at the Pagoda Terrace (online). So, if you don't care for an ocean view, this wouldn't be too bad of a deal.

Beware of Extremely Good Deals

There was, however, one downfall with the Pagoda Hotel that I recently experienced. I was given a room on the first floor and found out first hand that it was not the best place to stay. It was noisy and I soon found that the room was right next to the laundry room. Maintenance and hotel workers walked back and forth all night long into the early morning. I was exhausted and startled at the noise of the laundry truck at 2 am right outside my window. After 2 hours of loading and unloading loads of laundry I had just fallen asleep when the garbage truck arrived, beeping and banging in the exact same spot.

I could just kick myself. I never took into thought that this would happen to me. So, before getting excited about being assigned the first floor make sure you ask if it's near the laundry room and be sure to request another room instead.

Now if you are searching for "Pagoda" on the web take note of Pagoda Terrace, which personally I wouldn't recommend staying in. Pagoda Terrace, is located north (mountain side) of Pagoda Hotel, and the only reason I wouldn't recommend is the Terrace hotel is a condotel (room with kitchen) and it is known by its dark streets and cheesy types of guest. I stayed there once dispite all the local roomers, and to my dismay few of my neighbors kept there door open all night long with continuous foot traffic that did not cease. During my night stay I thought of complaining, but I was too afraid. It seemed that I was the only one asleep...

Luxury Hotels in Hawaii

The Kaanapali Ocean Resort

Heavenly, Heavenly. That is all I can say about this hotel. So far, this was the best deal I have ever had in my entire life. It was a truly sent from Heaven deal.

It was late at night a week before I was leaving for Maui and I was desperately seeking for a place to stay in Lahaina, Maui. Everything was quite pricey and there was no place that intrigued me. We were going over to attend a graduation ceremony for a nephew graduating from Lahainaluna High School.

Just when I thought all was going to be doomed I happened upon a website that sent a pop up message on my screen that read "$50 dollar deal now, now, now"....I was skeptical but I clicked on the deal anyway.

It took me to a site that showed no photo of the hotel I was going to stay at, it only said, "buy now". I took my breath and pressed the button and said what the heck it's only $50 dollars, what do I have to loose then confirmed my reservation and purchased one night. It gave me a confirmaiton page of where I was going to stay. It said the Kaanapali Ocean Resort.

The next day I asked around and no one on Molokai seemed to know where this hotel was. When I finally arrived in Lahaina we asked maintenance workers and friendly faces to tell us where we could find this hotel. We were lead to a beautiful hotel so immaculate I had to tell me husband to wait in the car while I go inside and find out if my name was on their list.

I came out of the lobby and approached my husband with a grin that could not come off of my face. I was confirmed and this was our hotel. What? why didn't I come here earlier in the day. There was a large swimming pool with a sliding board. I thought I was in heaven.

I will need to find my photos of this hotel. It is definitely worth the money. I don't think I'll ever come across a deal like that again. Like I said it must have been heaven sent.

Turtle Bay Hilton: Northshore

Another beautiful place to stay would be at the Turtle Bay Hilton down on the Northshore of Oahu. It's such a beautiful place to hang out even if you can't afford to stay in rooms priced from $200 to $300 dollars a night.

All rooms are ocean view, they also have condos on the premises, if I remember correctly there are fee simple or leasehold properties available for sale.

If the cost of staying at the hotel is too pricey you could opt to enter the premises with a beach access pass. This is what many locals do.

When you arrive at the guarded entrance be sure to tell them that you want a beach access pass. If you do this you get to park in the beach access reserved parking for FREE!. The beach is a beautiful, protected cove.

Only pictures can describe it's beauty so click on the photo below to get to my photos hosted at:

The Resort Quest at Waikiki Banyan was a wonderful place to stay. It's a great, family friendly hotel located on Kalakaua Avenue. Children under 12 eat free at participating restaurants when accompanied by an adult.

Check-In time was under 15 minutes when I arrived. Easy check-out also. And the best floor to park on would be the 5th floor which is also the floor to the laundry room.

The room was spacious and had a sliding privacy door that connected to the living room. The bedroom and the living room has it's own television so the children can watch a show on one t.v. and parents can be in another. Just pull the privacy door shut and you're in a room to yourself. The sofa is also a sofa bed so bunk up with someone else and the $135 dollar a night can be split between the both of you.

The room has a kitchenette for indoor cooking and a regular sized refrigerator to fit all of your groceries. It is also equipped with utensils, pots, pans, dishes, spoons, coffee pot, and a beautiful large island counter top.

It's a must stay at hotel.
